I’ve learned a lot about Newport in the last year. My concerns about moving to a location that seemed small and remote have long waned. My husband and I love it here. We can’t imagine our life anywhere else.

There are many opportunities for retirees. One of them is the 60+ Activity Center. Recently, I volunteered to take photos for their brochure and to produce a video for an awards acceptance. They’ve also ask me to be a backup trainer for Silver Sneakers program. This place is amazing and makes me look forward to turning 60. I have very selfish reasons for volunteering as a trainer; they allow me to attend the classes when I’m not 60!

The people who hang out here are so friendly. When I appeared with the camera in their face and ask them to smile, they did it and became instant friends.

Check out this video below about the center, then check out the calendar of (free) events for 60+ members. If you’re retired and thinking about where to move, this is the town. And don’t let the word “senior” scare you – these folks are line dancing and doing cardio that I can’t keep up with. This is a town for seniors to live, not wither away (unless of course that’s what you want to do.)
